In the wake of federal policy chaos, state policy has an opportunity to take center stage. In this session, learn how Illinois has succeeded in passing and strengthening clean energy policy, and how policymakers, advocates, and stakeholders can leverage strategies and lessons learned to drive clean energy policy in other states. We will discuss how the Illinois' Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), a landmark 2021 state law aimed at achieving 100% renewable energy by 2050 and the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability (CRGA) Act, a major November 2025 energy law to combat rising electricity costs, modernize infrastructure, and advance state clean energy goals were passed in Illinois. We will hear from Illinois policy experts and stakeholders about what strategies and messaging was successful in pushing these pieces of legislation, about lessons learned since CEJA was first-passed 5-years ago, and about current challenges facing CRGA's implementation.
